2011 - a big step out of the comfort zone!

Since there are a lot of english people who also visit my website, this New Year entry will be in my first langauge...English :)

2011 has gone by so fast, and I can say that the bad luck from this year's racing season is put far behind me. Early this year I decided that I would step well out of my comfort zone and push the limit not only behind the wheel. My car has given me some grief this year, and I never really felt that I could push the limit on the track. The rest of the team are really my heroes. No matter how dark it looks and how down we could get, we NEVER gave up! That's what it is all about, because at some point your luck turns. And towards the end of 2011, our luck really turned around.

In October I really pushed myself beyond what I thought I was capable of! I commentated day summary's of Rally Spain live on Norwegian sports tv. The first evening I did it I felt so much emotion. My heart was about to jump out of my chest, my mouth so dry that I wasn't sure I could speak and I really didn't think I could go through with it. I said to myself, just get through this first time and it will feel so much better, otherwise you will regret it for the rest of your life. I got got through it nervously, but I still got through it! And I got through the next 2 days aswell. This really did a lot for me, and has given me so much confidence to do other "scary" things. The best about it all is that I have been asked to commentate more in 2012!

The Norwegian car association NAF have also contributed to pushing me over the edge! I was called up and asked if i would go on live national radio and television talking about road safety, especially the amout of young people getting killed on the roads. I didn't have much time to prepare, but it went well! It went so quickly that I didn't remember much afterwards. :)

Before the annual NAF Motorsport christmas party at Geilo I was asked to hold a speech after dinner. This was going to be my first speech EVER, so for 2 weeks I barely slept and I must have written the speech 50 times along with some help from my dad :) Getting up in front of everyone, reminded me of starting my first race or the first time I commentated, but it is the feeling right after that is AMAZING!! A good piece of advice, just say yes to things you find scary, it might change your life.

Other great memories from 2011 are all the great races with the team, driving a Subaru rallycar at Gatebil on Ice, driving a F1 car in Sweden, reporting for crosscart, racing and rally, having a huge bus at the main Gatebil event, winning a trip to Daytona to see NASCAR +++ I LOVE MY LIFE :)

A owe so much to all of you who believe in me, especially the team and my sponsors! Many of my sponsors have been with me for 3 years, and they continue to stay with me. We have a lot of exciting things going on these days and I cant wait to see what 2012 will bring!

I wish all of you a Happy New Year and all the best in 2012!

Så glad blir man av å trene!!!

Takk for at du leser! :)

Watch out! hehe :)

God helg!

Oslo Motorshow - en perfekt avslutning for 2011!

Se brennpunkt saken HER

Takk for at dere leser :)

I cried...on national tv. I couldn't help it really after driving a F1 car!

My F1 experience from this summer was on national tv 2 days ago. I was so nervous before it came on, because I knew how emotional I was after driving the F1 car. After living 6 years in Oslo, my Stavanger accent has changed and I knew there would be some reactions on that. The best explanation is that I have always picked up different accents quickly, and after living here for 6 years it just changed.

I have never really seen my own enthusiasm caught on tape before, so it was both fun and embarrassing to see all of my reactions. I have received so many nice messages after the program, which makes me even more sure that I am doing what I should be doing! The racing is great, my team is great, my sponsors are great, the enviroment and all the people in it are great! It's my dream and I am living it!

Here is a link to the program: http://www.viasat4play.no/play/254753

I come in at around 18 minutes!

Trackday 25.09, the final event of 2011!

On sunday we are taking both of the Altezza's to Rudskogen to test before the season is over! I will be selling one of them, so it is important to find out which one I keep! Trackday organizes events for both registered and licenced cars, so this is a great oppurtunity to drive ALOT! :)

Here is their website: www.trackday.no

Hope to see a lot of people there! The track is open between 1300 - 1900.

A dramatic end to the season!

Friday morning we left for Vålerbanen, where the Norwegian championship final was to be held. Before pratice at 1400, my mechanic checked over the car and everything looked fine. After 4-5 laps on the second practice I saw a lot of white smoke coming out of hood. I thought maybe the turbo was broken, but then the flames came. A lot of flames! I quickly released the fire extinguisher and got out of the car. Fire personell managed to put the fire out, but the car looked bad...really bad. Here are some pictures of the drama:

FOTO: Racefoto.se

brentnissan2.jpg

brentnissan.jpg

I thought all hope was gone, and I was beyond devistated. My fantastic mechanic Ole Johnny said that this was no problem at that I would race saturday. We went to pick up some new parts and by 2230 the car was ready for saturday. On saturday we had some trouble with the temperature on the car, as there was some damage to the radiator and hoses. OJ and Øyvind fixed the problem and I finsihed 10th in saturdays race! :)

FOTO: Jørn Pettersen

Nissanryk.jpg

When the fire was put out they used powder and foam extinguishers. This has started to eat away at hoses and electrical wires in the car. On saturday night it was clear that the map sensor was broken, and we were not going to race on sunday. The reason for the fire was the the pin-bolts between the turbo and the exhaust flens loosended, directing all the heat straight to the hood. The turbo is now closer to the hood after having a new manifold built(because to fit the manifold pipes it needed a 5 cm adapter on the flens) and is probably the reason why it caught fire so quickly. To avoid the same situation again(this I hope will never happen again) we will modify the new hood so that there is more clearance to the turbo.

brentnissan3.jpg

Anders Ringstad, my main sponsor borrowed my new car for the weekend. He qualified best in GT4 and won the first race. This was fantastic, especially after what we had been through with the Nissan. He suggested we both drive the 30 lap race on sunday. On sunday it rained a lot! The rain tyres I had brought for the Altezza turned out to be atleast 6-7 years old, but we didn't know that, they just looked good! I started the race, but the tyres were so bad that I couldn't get any grip in the car. I just slided in every turn. I drove in after 5 laps, and Anders took over. He had the same problem and we got a bad result. Had we had better tyres and softened the car a bit the result could probably been as good as on dry tarmac.

MollyAnders.jpg

We had a great weekend with Anders and his mechanic Øyvind!I was also given a "dont give up" prize from the Chamionship committee on saturday. It was completley unexpected and has definitley given me the motivation to keep going! :)

The Nissan is for sale, so we now have some cosmetic work to do before a new owner can take over. I plan to drive the Altezza at every possible trackday to get the practice i need before next years season.

Thanks for reading!

Norwegian championship final this weekend!

First of all I apologize for not updating lately. My days include work from 0730 - 1600, then I get home to have something to eat then off to the workshop to work on the cars! So not always easy to sit down at the computer and tell you all what's happening! :)

A lot has happened since my last update. I got an incredibly good deal on 2 cars, and decided to take a chance. I bought 2 Toyota Altezza cup cars! The reason I have done this is because the competition in the Norwegian championship is tough and with the Altezza I can race in a lower class and hopefully get som top results!

Here are the cars when we picked them up from the train:

The Nissan has been through some upgrades since Gatebil in the beginning of July. I had a new manifold made, and aslo built a new downpipe and put on a new turbo. We went to test the car for the first time on sunday and everything seemed to work really well. I am very positive that we will get good results this weekend!

Here is a picture of the new turbo and manifold:

I have to miss the next race..

Unfortunately the car won't be ready for the 4th round in the Norwegian championship. It has now been a high priority to fix the exhaust manifold and downpipe before we race again. Of course it is disappointing, but I have driven a lot already this season so I can live with it!

I have also come to a point where I am considering what to do next year. I will come back with more information about this.

Norway was hit by a terrible tragedy last friday, where many young people were killed. I did not know anyone involved, but i am still greatly effected by it and my heart goes out to all the killed, wounded and the familys left behind. When things like this happen, everything else seems so unimportant.

2 amazing weekends at the new Rudskogen track!

I need to start off with a picture that shows it all. The photographer, Per Ottar Walderhaug has named the picture " Eye of the tiger". It really shows how I feel about the sport and how far I want to go. The picture is from Gatebil at Rudskogen this past weekend.

Per_Ottar_Walderhaug.jpg

3rd round of the Norwegian Chamionship 01 - 03 July:

The new track at Rudskogen was just finished as we arrived friday evening. The new depot area is not yet completed but we found some space next to TEVO DEKK on the tarmac. I was very nervous and excited about driving on the new track.

I qualified 18 out of 32. In the first race I finished 14th out of 32! Very happy with this, especially since I am competing against quite a few factory built cars!

On the sunday it was the second race, which was 20 laps! The new track is 3.3km long, so this was going to be tough! I managed to get to lap 17 before I had electrical trouble and lost my power steering. Still, I am both proud of myself and the car for getting this far!

Gatebil Rudskogen 09 - 10 July:

This past weekend can be summed up in one word, EPIC...

My mechanic Ole Johnny sponsored the team with a weekend in the VIPturne bus! www.vipturne.no

Here is a picture:

We got an amazing spot in the old depot(thanks Gatebil!):

Thomas and Marius had done a crazy job together with our sponsor Copycat Drammen, getting ready t-shirts, frisbees and last but not least my own mascot! How crazy is this!!!! A huge thanks also to Thomas's mom who spent many hours sewing! We sent out over 100 frisbees to the crowd on sunday! Some were also lucky and got a prize from Vrooom!

I got to drive an F1 car...how mad is that?!

A while back my good friend in Vrooom said that we were going to Sweden in June with a camera team to drive F1 cars. At the time the snow was still on the ground and it all seemed so distant. June came quick, and all of sudden I was sitting in the car on my way to Anderstorp. It was actually going to happen!!

F1 Boss series driver Johan Rajamäki is the man behind the concept at Anderstorp Raceway. Vrooom is their Norwegian distributor, and last thursday we were 18 Norwegians who were going to get an experience of a lifetime!

I was also doing this together with a new Norwegian tv program, that airs in the fall. Together with the host of the program we shared our experience of the cars and generally how it made us feel. To sum that up I cried after 5 laps in the F1 car.

A huge thanks to Ivar and Thomas for making this possible. A day I will never forget. www.vrooom.no

The second round in the Norwegian championship!

Karlskoga racetrack: 03 - 04 june

This past weekend we have been at Karlskoga racetrack for the 2 round in the Norwegian championship! It was great to finally be competing with cars more like my own! This track is amazing, just look at this picture:

bana_gellerasen.gif

Lots of tight corners and high speed streches! Great fun! We got there thursday afternoon and got the car ready for friday morning. Training started at 0900, and I had a great time in all of the practice rounds. I also improved my time by almost 5 seconds during the day. A difficult track to learn! We also had problems with cracks in the manifold and the guys had to weld it friday afternoon.

A picture of the depot turn before the long strech, fantastic!!

Thomas is pleased with the set up:

Great guys! Chief mechanic Ole Johnny and Geir:

From the start of the race saturday:

DSC_0085.JPG

At the start of the first race on saturday my oil pressure gauge stopped working. This worried me and I lost concentration in one of the first corners. I braked to late and had to go through an escape route which meant I was at the back. I managed to pass 5 cars in 10 laps, which I was happy with!

The next race is at Mantorp Park from the 17th to the 19th of june! I will continue with my live update there!

Gatebil Vålerbanen!

Sorry about this late entry! I have a live update which I use a lot more often since it goes via my mobile phone. You can find it HERE!

Gatebil 20 - 22 May:

This was the very first time we tested the car. New gearbox, new steering w/ a new electrical power steering, pedal box +++. Unfortunatley the servo died early on, and it became very difficult for me to get the car around the corners because of the short steering. I drove as much as I could, and everything else worked really well!

Mollysport's great mechanics Ole Johnny and Thomas! We were also lucky to have Raymond with us.

The car is ready in just a few days! We start the season next weeked at Gatebil.

It is no secret that this mad racing circus costs a lot of money. With us this year we still have several of our previous sponsors, who generously support us with parts, work and the equipment we need for the season. Unfortunatley we have not been succesfull with geting the money we need, so we are unable to start the Norwegian championship this weekend. However, I had a fantastic meeting yesterday with a potential new sponsor. So fingers crossed for that! :) I hope to be able to do half of the season and most of the Gatebil extreme races. I start work now to ensure that next season is a sure bet!

Seeing the car these days, i am still amazed of the transformation it has been through this winter. It will be a completely new car to drive, I am so excited! I am so thankful for all the help, and hope i can pay back by getting some great results this year!

This weekend crosskart NM & SM(Norwegian and Swedish championship) starts! I am their reporter for the season. It should be good fun to see the kids in action, just hope they are not camera shy!

Pål from Viscom AS has been putting on this years design! Very girly :) hehe..

It feels great to finally have the engine in!

Thank god it's spring!

After meters of snow for the past 5 months, it is quite pleasing to see it slowly melting and to know that the race season is just around the corner. The snow has been usefull giving me many good crosscountry trips.

My mechanic Ole Johnny has been fixing smaller damages on the car and getting it ready for the start of the season. The best part that has been bought in is without a doubt the new Tremec dogbox from http://www.andersringstad.no/ I can't wait to try this out, especially with the Quartermaster clutch.

Here are som pictures:

Still struggling with the sponsor situation, but I continue working on it until the bitter end. I have also been invited to race with the Super Car Challange series, so if I can't do all the races in the Norwegian GT series I might go to Denmark for a race.

First training day is the 29th of April, so hopefully we have the car ready for this.

Gatebil On Ice 2011!!
